Shepherd Center of the Northland offer a host of programs and services specifically designed to address the needs of older adults. Below are a list of programs. Caregivers are welcome to stay or enjoy the freedom of a day for themselves. Program hours are 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Antioch Community Church, 4805 N. E. Antioch Road, lunch provided. No cost, donations appreciated. Call 452-4536 to register. Meeting dates are: Care Giver Support Group May's Programs are open to anyone! You won't want to miss these special opportunities to relax, rejuvenate, and learn something new to help you as you care for your loved one. A light lunch provided. Call the office 452-4536 to make a reservation by the day before each event. (For those attending, Respite Care is available for your loved one with 2 day notice). Learning & Laughter meets the Second & Fourth Wednesday of the month from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with lunch provided. It is a day program for any adult who would enjoy being with peers learning & laughing! Please make your reservation for lunch by the preceding Friday to the meeting! Life After Loss - Grief Support Group meets 6 times beginning Thursday, September 20th from 1 - 2 p.m. at Antioch Community Church, 4805 NE Antioch Road. It is sponsored by NorthCare Hospice and led by Katie Schauer. Please call the office 452-4536 to register. Your Journey from Mourning to Joy Grief Share is a Christian, nondenominational, faith based group that is 13 sessions long. Each session has a short video and Biblical insights. A day time group will begin Thursdays, September 6th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Luke Presbyterian Church, 4301 NE Antioch Rd. An evening group will begin in Mid-September if needed. Good Neighbor - linking those needing assistance in their own homes with those wanting to give assistance Health Enrichment - regular blood pressure checks each month, and information classes on managing your health Current Events - classes on current affairs that affect our everyday living Short-Term Creative Classes - giving people an opportunity to pursue interests and creative talents such as woodcarving, quilting, drawing and Christmas ornaments. Other Classes - informative classes on living wills and trusts, insurance policies, and retirement homes
